The Senior Nutrition Program at the Daphne Senior Center serves hot, well-balanced meals five days a week. (Note: Seniors must be at least 60 years or older to participate and fill out a participant enrollment form annually.) The Nutrition Program is limited to 40 meals per day, on a first-come, first-served basis and donations are accepted. Lunch is served at 11:30 AM.
The program's meals are designed to include one-third of the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA). Menus typically include an entree, two vegetables, bread, desert, milk, and juice. The meals are prepared and delivered hot to the Daphne Senior Center by TRIO. For seniors on restricted diets, the meals are low fat, low sodium, and low in sugar. Complex carbohydrates are stressed.
Meals are also delivered to homebound seniors who live within the city limits of Daphne and are too ill or incapacitated to come to the Daphne Senior Center.
For more information on the Senior Nutrition Program which includes homebound delivered meals, contact Jennifer Rulon, Community Services Program Manager, at 251-620-2400.
