Welcome to the Daphne Public Library, located on U.S. Highway 98 in Daphne, Alabama. The original Daphne Public Library was dedicated in 1969. Our current building was dedicated August 18, 1996 and opened to the public in October, 1996. The Phase One Library Addition officially opened in April, 2010. Two more phases of growth are anticipated including an Auditorium (Phase Two) and a larger area for reference, young adults, older children, and meeting space (Phase Three). We are building strong minds!

The Daphne Public Library offers a multitude of features for guests. Wireless internet access is available inside or on the grounds of the library, a Community Room with adjacent kitchen and a Board Room are available for reservation (and free to civic organizations and nonprofit groups if booked in advance), over 68,000 titles are available in the library’s collection, Friends Book Shop, free classes and activities for all ages, and more!

The mission of the Daphne Public Library is to inform, educate, and culturally enrich the lives of the greatest possible number of citizens of all ages, cultures, and economic backgrounds. The Library collects, organizes, and provides access to educational, informational, recreational and cultural resources to meet the service needs of the community. We are dedicated to the highest standards of ethics and public service, and will strive for the maximum of effectiveness and economy in Library operations. The Library is dedicated to meeting the Standards for Public Library Service in Alabama. The Daphne Public Library Board of Trustees, Director, Staff, and Volunteers will strive for thoroughness, equity, and fairness in serving individuals and organizations throughout the community. We are dedicated to the development of full and equal access to information for all people.
