The May Meeting of the Teen Advisory Board will be held at The Gardens of Daphne on Tuesday, May 13th at 3:45 p.m

TEEN NEWS & MEETING INFO:

 

At the March 11, 2008 Teen Advisory Board Meeting the teens will start making pages for the YA Press newsletter.  Teens will also discuss having a Movie Night!  Do you have a movie title that you would like to see?  Special Guest, Jessica Seals will speak to us today on the upcoming “Spring into Reading” Art contest.  As well, Shari Crutchfield will present “Handwriting Analysis” What does your handwriting tell about you?

 

The Daphne Public Library Teen Advisory Board will celebrate their first anniversary in February with a special guest. The teens will host Linda Goodman, artist, singer, songwriter, and guitarist, at their February 12th meeting.  Goodman is a Mobile native and a graduate of the University of South Alabama.  As a teen, she began singing and playing her guitar professionally.  She has performed in Nashville and Baton Rouge.  Mostly self-taught, Goodman has demonstrated a personal determination that turned a young teenage girl’s love of music into a professional music career.  This February marks the Teen Boards first anniversary!   All area teens are invited to join in the fun and help the teen board celebrate on February 12th at 3:45 p.m. in the library community room. 

 

The January meeting will be held on Tuesday the 8th at 3:45 p.m. in the library’s community room. Mrs. Shari Crutchfield will present a workshop on the joy of music.  Attendees will have the opportunity to create a handmade music instrument. 

 

The Daphne Public Library Teen Advisory Board will meet on Tuesday, December 11th at 3:45 at the library.  After a short business meeting a holiday gift making workshop will be presented on china painting by Mrs. Sherry Immel.    The meeting will conclude with a special holiday social.  All area teens are invited to join our Holiday Celebration. 

 

On November 13th the Daphne Public Library Teen Advisory Board Members assembled Thanksgiving Gift Bags for the senior residents of The Gardens.   The Teen Advisory Board wishes to thank those who have done so much to make their community what it is today.  The Daphne Public Library Teen Advisory Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 3:45 p.m. in the library’s community room.  Area teens are invited to attend our next meet on December 11th.  For further information call 251.621.2818 ext 211.

The Young Adult Press, Kaleidoscope is actively collecting artistic and literary work from our  young adult patrons.

Here is your chance to publish your work!

 

        Teen Advisory Board – Area teens in grades 6-12 are invited to join our new Teen Advisory   Board.  Meetings will

be held in the library’s community room on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 3:45 p.m.  Members have the opportunity to advise the library on teen interest and trends.

History

 

A new Teen Advisory Board for Eighth through Twelfth Grade students in Baldwin County, Alabama formed in February, 2007.  Students from all schools are welcome and they should be A or AB honor students of good character.

 

This group will be active in choosing books for the YA area, helping to plan and decorate the new YA area, and helping to plan teen activities.  Activities suggested by the presently active teens include: writing contest, scavenger hunt, poetry reading, art show, movie night, teen book club, writing workshop, cooking workshop, digital photography workshop, local authors speaking.

 

Charter Members:  Russell Beason, Dylan Young, Wendy Wong, Brittany Pontius, Alex Ardent, Meredith Lowery, Felicia Staub, April Ward, and Kassy Seale.  Daphne Middle School, Daphne High School, Christ the King, Spanish Fort High School and Robertsdale High School are represented.
