Department of Revenue

The Revenue Division takes great pride in building relationships with The City of Daphne businesses.  We understand that opening and operating a business can be a bit overwhelming and difficult at times – that is why we are here to help.  Our division responsibilities include issuing business licenses and collection of various taxes.  Most of all, our major responsibility is assisting you, our business community.

The City of Daphne Revenue Division is open from 8am to 5pm, Monday – Friday.  This division provides assistance to new and existing businesses, issues business licenses, and collects the following taxes:

  • Sales and Seller’s Use Tax
  • Consumer Use Tax
  • Rental Tax
  • Auto Sales and Rental Tax
  • Gas Tax
  • Lodging Tax
  • Liquor, Beer, Wine and Tobacco Tax



Businesses physically located within the Corporate City Limits of Daphne must also be pre-approved through an internal process before a business license will be issued. For more information, please contact the Revenue Division at Daphne City Hall or by calling (251) 621-6613.

What is the City of Daphne’s sales tax rate? The total amount of sales tax in the corporate City Limits of Daphne is 9.5% (4% to the State of Alabama, 3% to Baldwin County and 2.5% to the City of Daphne). At this time, the City of Daphne does not collect tax in our Police Jurisdiction.

Do I need a City of Daphne business license? If you make deliveries, perform services, have salespeople calling on local merchants, or have a store or office located in the corporate city limits of Daphne, you need a City of Daphne business license. Requirements and fees vary depending upon the type of business. Necessary forms and applications can be accessed on the “Forms” page.
