Hurricane Zeta Update (October 27, 2020)

Due to Hurricane Zeta, the City of Daphne administrative operations will close at 3:00pm on Wednesday, October 28th and re-open at 12 noon on Thursday, October 29th. Daphne Police Department, Daphne Fire Department, and designated Public Works employees will report to work as directed by their department head. 

If an employee has a significant change in work access and is unable to report to work on Thursday, they should communicate with their immediate supervisor prior to the beginning of their next regularly-scheduled shift. 

Employees should check their personal emails, the City of Daphne Facebook page, and the City of Daphne employee telephone line (251-620-1199) for updates following the storm and directions for returning to work. 

Employee Holidays

The City of Daphne has 11 paid holidays each year:

  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Mardi Gras Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veteran's Day
  • Thanksgiving Day & the following day
  • Christmas Eve & Christmas Day

Vacation & Sick Leave

All regular full-time employees are entitled to vacation leave with pay according to length of service. All regular full-time employees earn sick leave at the rate of 3.08 hours biweekly for a total of 80 hours per year. (Fire Fighters earn sick and vacation leave at a slightly higher rate due to the number of hours they work.)

Accrued vacation pay will be posted to the employee's leave account on the first pay period of each month following the month in which it is earned. To be eligible to earn vacation pay in a month, the employee must work at least 10 days during that month.
